1 Overview

SplitEase ("SplitEase", "we", "our", or "us") is an expense-splitting app developed by Prydio. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the SplitEase mobile application and related services.

By using SplitEase, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.

Short version: We store only what's needed to track and split expenses. We never access your bank accounts or process real payments. Your expense data is private and never sold.

2 Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Account information: name, email address, and optional profile photo when you register.
  • Expense data: descriptions, amounts, currencies, categories, and dates of expenses you enter.
  • Group information: group names and the members you invite to split expenses with.
  • Contact information: contacts you choose to add within the app to form groups.

Information collected automatically:

  • Device information: device type, OS version, and unique device identifiers.
  • Usage data: features used, frequency of use, and crash/performance reports.
  • Log data: timestamps, app version, and error logs for debugging.

3 How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the SplitEase app and its features.
  • Calculate and display balances, debts, and settlements within your groups.
  • Sync your data across your devices.
  • Send notifications about new expenses, settlements, or group activity (with your permission).
  • Improve app performance, fix bugs, and develop new features.
  • Respond to your support requests and feedback.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond providing the SplitEase service.

4 Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share data only in these limited cases:

  • Within your groups: Expense data and balances are shared with members of your expense groups — this is core to the app's functionality.
  • Service Providers: Trusted partners for cloud hosting and analytics, bound by confidentiality agreements.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition, with prior notice to you.

Expense data shared within a group is visible only to the members of that specific group. We never share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

5 Financial Data

SplitEase is an expense tracking app — we do not process real financial transactions or access your bank accounts, credit cards, or any payment instruments.

  • We do not collect or store bank account numbers, card numbers, or any payment credentials.
  • Expense amounts you enter are stored as plain numbers for calculation purposes only.
  • Any settlement payments between users are arranged directly between those users outside of SplitEase.
  • We do not integrate with banking or payment APIs without your explicit consent and separate disclosure.

6 Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service:

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
  • Expense data: Retained while your account is active. You can delete individual expenses or entire groups at any time.
  • Anonymized analytics: May be retained indefinitely as they cannot be linked back to you.

You can export or delete your data at any time from the app settings or by contacting us.

7 Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Encryption of data in transit using TLS/HTTPS.
  • Encryption of data at rest using AES-256.
  • Secure authentication with hashed and salted passwords.
  • Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Strict access controls — only authorized personnel access user data on a need-to-know basis.

No system is 100% secure. We will notify you promptly in the event of a data breach affecting your information.

8 Your Rights

SplitEase may use third-party services for core functionality:
