1 Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to SplitEase, an expense-splitting app developed by Prydio ("Prydio", "we", "our", or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using SplitEase (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms").
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Prydio.
Short version: Use SplitEase fairly and honestly. Don't manipulate expense data to deceive others. SplitEase is a tracking tool only — we are not responsible for actual financial settlements between users.
2 Eligibility
To use SplitEase, you must:
- Be at least 13 years of age (or 16 in certain jurisdictions, such as the EU).
- Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
- Not be prohibited from receiving services under applicable laws.
- Not have had a SplitEase account previously terminated for violating these Terms.
3 Your Account
When you create a SplitEase account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information during registration.
- Keep your login credentials secure and not share them with others.
- Notify us immediately at [email protected] of any unauthorized access to your account.
- Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
Prydio is not liable for any loss resulting from your failure to maintain account security.
4 Acceptable Use
You agree to use SplitEase only for its intended purpose — tracking and splitting shared expenses — and in a lawful manner. You must not:
- Deliberately enter false or misleading expense data to deceive other group members.
- Use the App to harass, defraud, or harm any other user.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
- Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the App.
- Use the App for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent.
- Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.
Deliberately falsifying expenses to defraud other users may violate fraud laws in your jurisdiction, in addition to violating these Terms.
5 Financial Disclaimer
SplitEase is an expense tracking tool. We are not a financial institution, payment processor, or money transfer service.
- SplitEase does not process, hold, or transfer any real money between users.
- Balances shown in the App are for informational purposes only and are based on the expense data you and your group members enter.
- Actual settlements between users must be arranged directly and independently of SplitEase.
- Prydio is not responsible for any disputes, debts, or financial losses arising from expense data tracked in the App.
- We do not provide financial, legal, or tax advice.
If you have a financial dispute with another user, that is a matter between you and that person. SplitEase is a convenience tool, not a financial guarantor.
6 User Content
You retain ownership of all expense data, group names, notes, and other content you create in SplitEase ("User Content"). By using the App, you grant us a limited license to store and process your User Content solely to provide the service.
You represent and warrant that your User Content:
- Is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- Does not violate any applicable laws or the rights of any third party.
- Does not contain harmful, offensive, or illegal material.
Expense data entered in a group is visible to all members of that group.
7 Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in and to SplitEase — including its design, features, code, and branding — are the exclusive property of Prydio.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our App without our express written permission.
8 Privacy
Your use of SplitEase is governed by our Privacy Policy, incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using SplitEase, you consent to the data practices described therein.
9 Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon deletion, your data will be removed within 30 days.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we believe you have violated these Terms or engaged in harmful conduct. Termination does not affect any rights or obligations that arose prior to termination.
10 Disclaimers
SplitEase is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
- Calculation accuracy depends on the data entered by users. We are not responsible for errors in user-entered data.
- We are not responsible for any financial disputes between users arising from data tracked in the App.
11 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Prydio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, financial loss, or disputes between users, arising from your use of SplitEase.
Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12 Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. For material changes, we will notify you via in-app notification or email and update the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of SplitEase after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
